Experience a splash of traditions, colours and music at the Tarnetar fair this month. Held near the town of Thangadh in the Sundernagar district, the fair is a celebration of local folk traditions. Based on the legend of Draupadi’s swayamvara, the fair has traditionally served as a centre for courting prospective brides and grooms and still continues to be so. During the fair, the entire village of Tarnetar is celebrating and the stalls here sell a variety of items such as beautiful local handicrafts, ethnic jewellery, statues of deities and traditional at- tire with mirror work embroidered.
