WHAT ARE THE BEST WAYS TO GAIN PRACTICAL EXPOSURE WHILE IN COLLEGE?

WE ASK A WRITER, ACADEMICIAN, CEO AND STUDENT WHAT THEY THINK

Chetan Bhagat

One cannot put all the blame on colleges and parents. Those who design textbooks and curriculums must also be held accountable. Colleges should by virtue teach theory that is relevant to what students need to know

in the 21st century.

Rob Lynes

Colleges have ample

opportunities for young students to gain practical exposure.

One can work as interns, join a club or take up a new hobby. The avenues to learn are already present. But students need to

be aware of them.

Shekhar Sanyal Srikanth Srinivasan

Student groups and societies will give you whatever information that books might fail

to. Taking part in events, debates, talks and seminars is a good way to integrate yourself with your field in a

professional sense. Networking can play a

huge role in helping students liase with the professional world outside of college. LinkedIn is a new trend in India but there is a long way to go. Talking and meeting fellow colleagues will help one throughout life.
