This doe- eyed beauty burst on to the scene with 2012’ s sleeper hit Vicky Donor. After appearing in a slew of advertisments and popular TV serials, Yami Gautam made a successful switch from television to Bollywood turning heads with her performance as Ashima Roy in her blockbuster debut. The Chandigarh- born ingenue is expected to star opposite her first co- star Ayushmann Khurrana in John Abraham’s Hamara Bajaj next. In addition to this she has also bagged Gouravam, a big project down south that will be produced by Prakash Raj and marks the acting debut of Allu Sirish, the brother of Allu Arjun. In a freewheeling chat conducted during an extended photoshoot, Yami opens up about her fashion mantras, favourite icons and design inspirations.

“I don’t follow trends blindly but like to make my own style statement. I don’t consider myself a fashionista but I do think it’s important to dress according to your personality. It is silly to be a fashion victim and wear something just because it is considered fashionable,” says the gorgeous actor.

For Yami, comfort is key. And she believes a woman must have confidence in herself and her sartorial choices. “Your outfit must match your personality. Whether you’re wearing a saree, a dress or a simple pair of jeans and a t- shirt, you need to feel confident and at ease,” she says. Yami says her own style of dressing is subtle and individualistic. “I don’t like loud clothes and patterns and prefer to keep things subtle, yet I am fond of florals and frills and still love wearing pastel colours. I am very fond of black. I think it looks very chic.”
