Melting Pot

- By Devika Chaturvedi

This sunny spot adds a scoop of Italy to the Ahmedabad palette. A brainchild of Aastha Gandhi, 23 ( fifth generation of the ice- cream giants Vadilal family), melt in stocks gelatos in delicious flavours. The tangy and sweet Fresh Strawberry is a popular flavour. So is the Chocolate Fondente with a slightly bitter taste and a sprinkling of roasted pistachios. We would recommend the Indian favourite mango and cold coffee gelatos. To savour the true Gelato experience, step inside the gelato lab and watch the gelato machine churning out new flavours. You can even try some straight from the churner, it only takes 12 minutes for a fresh tub to be made. While the classics ( such as chocolate or pistachio) are not neglected, the melt in team likes to experiment. A caramel- coloured gelato surprised us with an initial burst of intense coffee notes, which then merged into orange and cinnamon. melt in also offers a cut- above range of pastries filled with ingredients such as mascarpone cream cheese and gianduia ( chocolate and hazelnut sauce). Cost Rs 50 to Rs 175 At Judges Bungalow Road, Ahmedabad
