Hole in Modi Plan

Narendra Modi’s dream project, a statue of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel near the Narmada dam in South Gujarat, is already facing opposition from the Gujarat Chief Minister’s old“friends”— the anti- Narmada dam lobby. Modi’s plan is to supplement the statue by developing leisure tourism in the picturesque area covering 70 villages. Two anti- dam activists, Lakhan Musafir and Dipen Desai, are organising a padyatra against the plan saying it will uproot the villagers. Expect more protests.
