P. Chandralekha, an economics graduate from Kerala, had never sung in public. But that’s before a YouTube video showcasing her dulcet tones exploded online. The grainy mobile phone recording of the 33-year-old homemaker holding her son and singing a popular Malayalam film song in her dilapidated house has got more than a lakh views. The video also became popular on Facebook with over 300,000 likes. Post her online success, three Malayalam film music directors have asked her to sing in their films.
