How to be the PERFECT MUTANT

With only days to go before superhero flick Krrish 3 hits theatres on November 1, anticipation is building. Every superhero needs his nemesis, and Kangana Ranaut, as the evil yet beautiful mutant Kaya, is one.

Get the costume right

Designer Gavin Miguel created a custom-made latex full body suit for Ranaut, who had to apply oil all over her body to get into it. “It’s like having another skin,” she says.

Keep hair in place

For the fight sequences, Ranaut’s curly hair was kept in place not with gel or wax but with sugar water, which was applied on her scalp daily. Her hairstyle in the film varies from spikes to a braid.

Get animal-like features

Thick eyeliners were used to enhance the roundness of her eyes and three layers of false eyelashes were glued to further highlight them. The mutant act required Ranaut not to be too emotive, but be robot-like.

Get the perfect body

“Latex is a material that shows every detail of your body,” says Ranaut. To achieve “a firm bottom and chest and a tiny waist”, she followed a diet prescribed by nutritionist Anjali Mukerjee.
