SPARKLE AND SHIMMER
Rolex’s new presentation for this year’s BaselWorld, the re-imagined Oyster Perpetual Lady Datejust Pearlmaster redefines feminine elegance encased in an inescapably blinding cascade of jewels combined with the most precious materials. The case comes in white or black mother pearl bedecked in a lotus flower motif in pink gold that criss crosses the entire face of the watch. The case and the bracelet are made from 18-carat Everose manufactured at Rolex’s own foundry. Despite the 34 brilliant-cut diamonds on the bezel and the 226 on the bracelet, and the 11 set directly on the numeral VI on the watch face, the Pearlmaster is built for sturdiness, capable of withstanding upto 100 metres of depth and features a fluted case back, which is hermetically screwed. The crystal, equipped with the trademark Cyclops lens at 3 o’clock for easy reading of the date, is made of virtually scratchproof sapphire. Like all Rolex Perpetual movements, the Lady Datejust is a certified Swiss chronometer, a designation reserved for high-precision watches that have successfully passed the Swiss Official Chronometer Testing Institute (COSC) tests. It’s grace is only enhanced by the knowledge that when mezzo-soprano Cecilia Bartoli sang “Exsultate, Jubilate” at the gala concert celebrating the 250th anniversary of Mozart’s birth, she was wearing this very diamond studded watch.
