RESTAURANT REVIEW

A checklist on what to eat, what to shop for and what to do.

Nine Lives to Eat

An unorthodox menu, unusual flavours and a relaxed décor make this place stand out among a host of restaurants that have opened up in the Tricity. Gourmet Nine, a multi-discipline food theatre, comes straight from the hearts of duo Aditya Prabhu, who has over 23 years of F&B experience and Shiwani Tomar, an interi- or designer and musician. Promising a plethora of options ranging from the south coast of India, grills from around the world, Indian entrée, and favourites from across Asia, this place is perfect if you like flirting with multiple tastes. As one digs into the starters Meen Polichattu (fish from Kerala) and Chicken Bhapa among a host of options including Prawns Hunan, Tawa Fish, and Kane Rawa Fru, it’s hard not to regret tasting some other tempting ones including crunchy String Beans and Grilled Cottage Cheese. For mains, go with Veg Stew, Whole Sea Bass with Ginger Soya, Crab Masala and Railway Mutton. The menu is cleverly balanced, with a gentle rhythm between soft and strong flavours uniting each offering with selection of fine wines, single malt spirits and signature concoctions. Desserts include coconut dumplings and angoori rabdi. The place also offers a weekend buffet. At 28/8, 1st Floor, Pelican Hotel, Industrial Area, Phase – II, Chandigarh Tel 8591034732 Meal for two Rs 1500
