Munchies delight An offshoot of Anand Sweets, Cheeni Kum offers a variety of fried, roasted, baked and sugary Indian snacks. From Sandwich Bhakarwadi to Palak Chakli, sticky Jamun Chips, and Peanut Chikli, it sources authentic munchies from across the country. We loved the diet section in particular, which offers over 50 different products such as whole-wheat Cardamom Nan Khatai Cookies and Baked Kachori. It also stocks various masalas, chutneys and dips. Do try the preservative-free hummus, which is velvety smooth with a strong aroma of roasted garlic and lemon. At Ground Floor, Anjaneya Complex, No, 147, Kodihalli, Old Airport Road

Inside the food mansion

A wide open space, small ponds and a false ceiling of auburn autumn leaves makes Smoke House Deli’s new sister joint, Glasshouse, a treat for those looking to unwind over good food and quiet company. Glasshouse is surprisingly much more reasonably priced than its counterpart. We decided to try the vegetarian selection first and settled for Baked Camembert and the Farmhouse Pizza. While we waited for our food, the bowl with a goldfish on our table kept us company. The Baked Camembert, with a garlic encrusted top and shards of homemade bread was absolutely delicious. The pizza was loaded with heaps of marinated mushrooms, ricotta cheese and baked pumpkin. The non-vegetarian fare included Crumb Fried Chicken with a blue cheese dip, thinly sliced Beef Carpaccio and a rich Lamb Stew. However, as satisfying as the food was, the dessert left us disappointed. The Chocolate Espresso Mousse was too gelatinous and the Bourbon Ice Cream tasted much like the regular vanilla ice cream. But when it comes to the price and the ambience one can rarely go wrong with a trip to the Glasshouse. Meal for two Rs 1,700 plus taxes At 25/2, Lavelle Road
