MY FIRST BRUSH WITH BEAUTY

As a young girl, I was completely fascinated with the eyeliner and kajal that my aunt wore. One day I was watching her while she put on her makeup and just to amuse me she applied some eyeliner to one of my eyes. I was so excited that I ran out of the room to show my mother how I looked. As far as I can remember that was my first real brush with beauty.

BEAUTY PRODUCTS I DON’T LEAVE HOME WITHOUT

At work I need to turn up bare faced and let the makeup team do their job according to my look in the film. Otherwise, I carry the very basic beauty essentials like mascara and a lipstick. I’m also a big fan of nail polish so I do keep a couple at hand.

MY BASIC BEAUTY REGIME

I follow the three basics — cleansing, toning and moisturising. I never forget to wear sun protection. I also try and use good products since using just any brand might harm your skin.

ADVICE FOR WOMEN ON-THE-GO

Women always on the move tend to look dull after a certain amount of time. To avoid your skin looking washed out switch to pressed powder. It is very effective and has come in handy for me many times.

GETTING RED LIPSTICK RIGHT

When you’re using a colour as strong as red your lips take centre stage so you need to tone down the rest of your makeup. Try to highlight and focus on just a single feature.

BIGGEST BEAUTY BLUNDERS

Wearing too much makeup is a common mistake. You need to know which features to emphasise and how to avoid going overboard. Following a certain look just because you have seen it in a magazine may not work; it might be right for the model but may not suit you. Beauty is all about trial and error and having fun as you go along. You must make an effort to learn from your mistakes.
