Rooting for Terrorists?

The way some politicians are vociferously espousing the cause of dreaded terrorists is extremely disgusting (“My Hero, Your Villain”, March 10). The recent decision of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa to set free the assassins of former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi, immediately after Supreme Court commuted their death sentence into life imprisonment, has triggered a political storm across the country. There have been leaders who have also sought lenient treatment of former Punjab chief minister Beant Singh. Just as the Indian Government hanged Afzal Guru for his role in the 2001 Parliament attack, assassins of Rajiv Gandhi and Beant Singh should be treated similarly. They not only killed national leaders but sacrificed the lives of other innocent people who were present at the crime scenes.
