Neetu Sheth, who grew up in South Africa and worked with Morgan Stanley, New York, discovered her interest in wines when she began her stint with the latter. She, along with a friend, started visiting various restaurants and bars in the Big Apple, savouring different wines and researching their origins. Eventually, Sheth quit her job to return to Mumbai in 2005 and married her husband whom she knew since she was 15. She then decided to follow her passion for wines and opened her own company, Wine Rack, which deals in the import and distribution of wine in Maharashtra and Delhi. Now, she has also taken on the role of a director of her family- run Setco Foundation, which promotes health, education and women empowerment through anganvadis ( playschools) in Kalol, Gujarat. The 33- year- old business woman, who often helps hotels such as The Four Seasons and Novotel with their wine portfolio, says, “There are a lot more women now in the alcohol industry; many of them are assuming leadership roles in top companies and have established themselves well.” Her family, which has been immensely supportive of her ventures, is extremely important to her and she believes in nurturing important relationships. “When I am not working, I spend time with my friends and family. It is important to live a balanced life,” she says. Sheth is an astute and committed business woman, who is really stirring and swirling her way to the top of the alcohol industry.
