Pub and grub

- By Asmita Bakshi

While Bandra is dotted with bars and clubs that make it a hipster haven, people higher North have largely been ignored. Enter The Big Bang Bar & Café, which recently opened its doors in Andheri. Pleasant surprises include the several square feet of space, reasonable prices and various deals that are on offer on different nights. Take a seat in one of the three levels of the bar as the friendly waitstaff makes sure you are more than comfortable. We recommend the Mojito—it may be a little sweeter than usual, but its kick more than makes up for that. If you’re counting calories and looking for something easy on sugar, opt for the Red Wine Sangria. It’s bold on the alcohol and perfectly fruity on the tongue. The music oscillates between retro and contemporary commercial, making it a fun place once your spirits are up. Cushion the alcohol with some delicious grub from the menu. The Butter Garlic Tandoori Prawns are a safe bet—a tasty mix of ginger, garlic and butter. Another popular pub pick is the Diced Beef. It goes down extremely well no matter what your poison is. North Mumbaikars, your much dreaded treks every weekend to the far corners of South Mumbai are numbered. Meal for two Rs 2,000 At Shop No 28, Ground Floor, Meera CHS, Oshiwara Link Road, Oshiwara, Andheri West Tel 30932030 ext. 139 Timings 6 p.m. to 1.30 a.m.
