My Body, My Rules Rush Fitness Centre

Tweaking and adapting a workout according to your body type is not only more effective to get fit, but is essential to remain injuryfree. “We customise workouts according to everyone’s needs and capability. There is no one-size-fits-all approach,” says Neeraj Surana, operations director at Rush Fitness Centre. At Rush, a diet is prescribed to you according to your fitness level after consultating a doctor. Rush occupies a sprawling 8,000 sq ft of area in a high-rise in Gariahat, offering ample room to workout. Besides rows of treadmills and cross-trainers, it offers wide space for strength training. “We wanted a place where everyone could workout and adjust it to their busy schedules. We’ve kept spacious locker rooms and showers so that anyone can hit the gym and shower before they go to office,” says founder Prakash Agarwal. The gym organises various classes to keep up the fun level. Just after monsoons, when the weather cools down a bit, they conduct outdoor boot camp training sessions for members. There’s also Zumba, spinning and yoga classes for those tired of working out on the same old machines. Another programme popular with members is Strength and Sweat Days, where members are encouraged to workout in groups and beat their own records. “Beating your own record gives you a high that encourages you to stick to your workout routine and the competition within the group keeps you motivated towards it,” Surana adds.
