Into the City

Check out what’s new in town.

Adding to the plethora of Mughlai food outlets at every few kilometres in the city is the recently launched Indus Grill. We decided to stop by for dinner at the restaurant to try it’s much-talked about kebabs and traditional Mughlai cuisine with a contemporary twist.

Done up in warm earthy tones, the interiors here are simple and chic. We decided to enjoy the breeze outside and chose to sit on the dimly-lit terrace. Our evening began with a refreshing glass of apple mojito that was nicely muddled. The drink was accompanied with a kebab platter served on a mini barbeque station. The platter included murgh malai tikka, galauti kebab and tandoori fish, all mildly spiced and flavourful. The kebabs were delectable and cooked to retain the right texture and its meaty juices. The vegetarian kebabs comprised tandoori cottage cheese and baked potatoes, which were just about average. What we particularly enjoyed was the focaccia kulcha—stuffed baby naans infused with herbs. Fresh out of the oven, this was probably the only contemporary twist we saw, besides the ambience of course. Pleased with our starters, we made room for the mains. The alltime favourite dal makhani and butter chicken were an obvious choice, coupled with the chef’s recommendation of Kashmiri rogan josh and kadhai paneer. The main aren’t execptional here, just the usual run-of-the-mill curries and breads. The one place where Indus Grill wins brownie points is that the gravies aren’t too rich or spicy, and the service is quick. For desserts we recommend the phirni, delicately flavoured and mildly sweet. Meal for two Rs 1,000 plus taxes At M 44, First Floor and Terrace, Greater Kailash-2 Tel 40800049
