BMW In­dia has also been a part­ner of the Kochi-Muziris Bi­en­nale since its first edi­tion in 2012. The Bi­en­nale en­deav­ours to cre­ate a cul­tural im­pact both lo­cally and glob­ally, bring­ing in­ter­na­tional artists to In­dia and pro­vid­ing a world­wide plat­form for In­dian artists. It en­com­passes dif­fer­ent forms of ex­pres­sion, in­clud­ing paint­ing, in­stal­la­tions, dance, po­etry, lit­er­a­ture and the­atre. It uses her­itage prop­er­ties and gal­leries in Fort Kochi and Er­naku­lam like Aspin­wall House, Pep­per House, David Hall, and Dur­bar Hall. These lo­ca­tions serve as melt­ing pots of cre­ativ­ity, di­a­logue and in­ter­pre­ta­tions. The BMW Art Talk is held at the start of the bi­en­nale that brings to­gether artists from all medi­ums with the gen­eral pub­lic to have an in­ter­ac­tive di­a­logue ex­plor­ing var­i­ous facets of art and the fac­tors in­flu­enc­ing it. What’s unique and im­por­tant about both these plat­forms is that they do not re­strict pa­tron­age of art to con­nois­seurs and are able to es­tab­lish an emo­tional con­nect with the gen­eral au­di­ence. They cre­ate a rip­ple ef­fect which has a very positive im­pact in in­creas­ing the ap­pre­ci­a­tion for art among the masses. The more ex­po­sure the art and the artist get, the more the world of art gains! What are the pa­ram­e­ters that out­line BMW’s en­gage­ment with an art project? We set no lim­its; un­re­stricted free­dom of cre­ative po­ten­tial is of ut­most im­por­tance, which is equally cru­cial for the field of art as it is for ground-break­ing in­no­va­tions within a suc­cess­ful busi­ness en­ter­prise. The 13th BMW Art Car, a work of art by prom­i­nent Ital­ian artist, San­dro Chia. Ac­cord­ing to the artist, “the au­to­mo­bile is a soughtafter pos­ses­sion in so­ci­ety and all eyes are upon it. Peo­ple look closely at cars. The one I have painted re­flects their gaze. Like a mir­ror, it con­fronts the peo­ple who look at it.” In­dia Art Fair 2017, which be­gins on Fe­bru­ary 2, also pro­vides us with a unique plat­form to show­case our take on co tem­po­rary lux­ury—the all­new BMW 5 Se­ries, the most pro­gres­sive sports-busi­ness sedan of­fer­ing unique driv­ing dy­nam­ics in com­bi­na­tion with the most in­no­va­tive as­sis­tance sys­tems.
