Hor­ti­cul­ture and mi­cro-ir­ri­ga­tion trans­formed farm­ing in Jam­na­gar, which in the past mainly pro­duced cot­ton and ground­nut. Pomegranate and wa­ter­melon cul­ti­va­tion has grown by 50 per cent in the last

five years. About 0.379 mil­lion hectares of cul­tivable area in the district is un­der drip and sprin­kler ir­ri­ga­tion—a 10-fold jump since 2000. Cot­ton is grown on 0.17 mil­lion hectares and ground­nut on 0.131 mil­lion hectares. All 0.15 mil­lion farm­ers in the district are cov­ered un­der the soil health card scheme
