-

Money makes money, goes the popular saying. Instead of hoarding money, it is better to invest in the share market for higher returns. It’s a dynamic investment tool, which if used smartly, can yield great returns. Buying shares, however, requires in-depth research and understanding of the market and government policies. Sreshti Verma, Bangalore Property is one investment one can’t go wrong with. Investing in it is safe and almost always profitable. It opens up a host of options such as renting and real estate trading. Ruby Khosla, Faridabad The importance of cash, especially in a country like India, cannot be denied. I think the safest option is to keep money in banks. It isn’t exactly an investment, but it is definitely the safest bet as there is no risk involved. The recent meltdown teaches us that a positive cash flow is essential. Priyanjali Datta, Delhi I believe investing in cash is one of the safest and easiest ways to grow your money. One can opt for tools that have a high liquidity but low risk ratio. Options such as money market funds, certificates of deposits, bank and post office accounts offer decent returns. The money invested is locked for a period of less than 90 days and despite low interest rates, the lower risks and Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) insurance are major bonuses. Madhu Anand, Delhi Real estate is not always a gamble if one is well informed about the market conditions. Investing in commercial properties is more profitable than residential properties; it is one of the most stable assets today. They also fetch higher rental value. Start your search by fixing your investment range, the rest will follow. Simran Kohli, Mumbai The share market offers several investment options depending on one’s risk appetite. It is often considered a slightly dangerous place for initial investors, but with experience and good research, the returns are rewarding. Systematic Investment Plans (SIPs) are a great place to start with. Suneepa Chakravarty, Kolkata With the emergence of Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs), the property investment scenario has changed completely. REITs are companies that own and operate income-producing real estate. Through these, investors are able to put their money in big projects that they wouldn’t have been able to afford otherwise. It works similar to mutual funds. Tax rebates are an added bonus of this investment tool. Komal Puri, Delhi It might sound old-fashioned but gold, I believe, is one of the best investment tools. It is safe and almost always profitable as very rarely do the prices fall. Kriti Bhargava, Delhi
