From bat­tling po­lice com­plaints for serv­ing chicken in what was pre­dom­i­nantly a veg­e­tar­ian neigh­bour­hood 19 years ago to in­tro­duc­ing Ahmed­abad to siz­zlers, Up­per Crust counts it­self among the city’s iconic restau­rants that has been dish­ing out rolls, frankies, siz­zlers and desserts for al­most two decades now. Own­ers Lester and Mon­isha Dsouza have been cre­ative with the menu, de­sign­ing in-house sauces, off­beat com­bi­na­tion and giv­ing their siz­zlers quirky names like Jane Fonda or Pot Pourri which com­bines Malaysian and pan-Asian fare.

Don’t go here ex­pect­ing au­then­tic world food; it’s all in­spired and tweaked to the lo­cal palate. So, you can find veg­e­tar­ian steaks made with pota­toes and cot­tage cheese or their very own Lasagna Rosti. They don’t fol­low a rule­book while de­sign­ing their recipes; they come up with an ex­cit­ing name and then get cre­ative with the recipes to make a dish that be­fit­ting the name.
