With an ob­jec­tive of cre­at­ing of hu­mane pro­fes­sion­als who en­able peo­ple to over­come poverty, de­pri­va­tion and un­em­ploy­ment, the Tata In­sti­tute of So­cial Sciences (TISS), was es­tab­lished in 1936 as the Sir Dorabji Tata Grad­u­ate School of So­cial Work. To­day, TISS of­fers mul­ti­ple in­te­grated and post­grad­u­ate cour­ses in so­cial sciences, hu­man­i­ties and re­search. One can opt for un­der­grad­u­ate and post­grad­u­ate de­grees in so­cial work, hu­man re­sources man­age­ment, devel­op­ment stud­ies, health ad­min­is­tra­tion, hospi­tal ad­min­is­tra­tion, so­cial epi­demi­ol­ogy, and clin­i­cal psy­chol­ogy. “The cour­ses of­fered by TISS are unique and highly rel­e­vant and in de­mand,” says S Para­sur­a­man, Di­rec­tor, TISS. Be­sides these cour­ses, TISS has reg­u­lar train­ing and ca­pac­ity build­ing pro­grammes for govern­ment of­fi­cials such as se­nior IAS, IPS and IFS of­fi­cers, State Ser­vice Of­fi­cers, Rail­way Ser­vice and In­dian For­est Ser­vice Pro­ba­tion­ers.

Fee `25,000 a year as tuition fee for all cour­ses. TISS has 49.5 per cent seats re­served for SC, ST and OBC can­di­dates and they are ex­empt from pay­ing tuition fee
