IF YOU WANT a a touristy Bengali experience with all the perks of chilling in a resort, Breathing Earth in Belladanga village is your answer. An hour and a half drive from Kolkata, Breathing Earth is a twelve room mud house resort in Belladanga village.

The “mud” of course is faux and the resort with its centrally placed lawn pool has twelve cottages that are equipped with all modern comforts. A small orchard, gardens and a lake are spread out around the perimeter of the resort where one can spend time kayaking, paddle boating and doing adventure activities like zorbing, air rifle shooting, Burma bridge crossing and zip lining.

Pretty ‘alpana’ style wall art dot the stucco brown walls of the rooms and banquet area buildings, giving it an appealingly ethnic touch. The property also has a small banquet and a multi cuisine restaurant that specializes in Bengali food and some basic continental and Chinese dishes.
