Two years in the making, 108 official permissions later Mumbai finally has its first ‘flotel’ or floating hotel. AB Celestial, anchored at the Bandra jetty, is a three storey boat which currently houses a restaurant cum lounge. Launched just a few weeks, AB Celestial will be shuttered during the monsoon but will reopen with a bang in September, when the café will also be functional. The boat has been designed and is run by 21-year-old Aishwarya Bhende, who wanted to offer her city the yacht experience she enjoyed so much while visiting Sweden. Bhende was careful to keep the nautical theme a running one from the décor to the drinks and even the cutlery. During the summer, a must-try is the Rock The Prawn, served with a mango dip.
