Left High and Dry
From the deep hole the CPI(M) had dug for itself in West Bengal, the party has been making some attempts to claw its way back up. On May 22, party workers led a ‘Bengal in distress’ rally to Mamata Banerjee’s state secretariat Nabanna. The ruling Trinamool Congress, of course, dismissed the agitation out of hand, with one minister joking that it was the Left that was in distress, and even offered to send across a party worker or two to liven up the march.
