Into the City

- by sukant deepak

A checklist of the coolest restaurants, events and things to shop for this summer.

Though originally concieved as a takeaway restaurant, the place has over time started enjoying immense popularity among those wishing to have a quick snack in an informal setting. The intimate, cosy space exudes a warm personal touch unlike modern restaurants in Chandigarh, which look like corporate office cafes. Dressed with fresh flowers, books on Rumi, the quintessential dose of love to get you through the day, ensure that the well-lit café is perfect for any occassion. The cafe is known for the kebabs in Turkey, Iran, Portugal, Spain and Greece with an interesting take on Adana Kebab from the city of Adana in Turkey and on the Koobideh Kebab, the national dish of Iran. Serving food created by the culinary cross-fertilisation from around Asia, the Middle East and Europe, the staff is always more than willing to narrate stories of the kebabs that travelled across the Silk route, crossing borders, taking various forms, shapes, and flavours. In fact, these mouth-watering flavours can be attributed to the age-old charcoal grill techniques.
