Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay was the second IIT established in India in 1958. Its philosophy is to be the fountainhead of new ideas and of innovators in technology and science. The institute has 15 academic departments, 600 faculty members, 30 centers, five interdisciplinary programme and one management school. Over the past five years, it has produced 50,000 engineers and scientists. “The institute strives to excel in creation and dissemination of knowledge through its educational programmes and research endeavors, for the benefit of the society at large.
