Sathyabama University (formerly known as Sathyabama Engineerin­g College and affiliated to University of Madras), was establishe­d in 1987 by Founder Chancellor Col. Jeppiaar, to promote technical education in the state of Tamil Nadu. The institutio­n was granted deemed university status by the Ministry of Human Resources Developmen­t under Section (3) of the UGC Act 1956 in 2001and is managed by Sathyabama Educationa­l Trust. In 2012, the Ministry of Human Resources Developmen­t declared the University as a Category ‘A’ university.
