Sathyabama University (formerly known as Sathyabama Engineering College and affiliated to University of Madras), was established in 1987 by Founder Chancellor Col. Jeppiaar, to promote technical education in the state of Tamil Nadu. The institution was granted deemed university status by the Ministry of Human Resources Development under Section (3) of the UGC Act 1956 in 2001and is managed by Sathyabama Educational Trust. In 2012, the Ministry of Human Resources Development declared the University as a Category ‘A’ university.
