London’s Tiger Bay just made its Indian debut in Ahmedabad with a sprawling restaurant at Bodakdev that’s high on décor and quality food. They have different outdoor seating sections but we suggest you pick Nautical if you go there on a pleasant evening. It gives you the feel of being on an island with fountains lending the ambience a calming touch. The food is world cuisine with a mix of Italian, Middle Eastern, Mexican and Indian. A lot of international staples have been given an Indian twist, which is already making it a popular choice among the city’s foodies. So they have cheesy nachos, arancini or rice balls in picante sauce, the traditional hummus with pita, falafel and paneer tikka. The twist on the menu is the pao bhaji quesadilla which is a buttery bhaji mash stuffed in a flaky Malabar paratha and loaded with cheese. Non-vegetarians can try the classic barbeque chicken wings burger or a Philli chicken burger and grilled chicken pannini. The mains move on to pastas in a variety of sauces, East Asian fare such as burnt garlic noodles, Thai curries and a wide range of options in pizza. The highlight of the menu is undoubtedly the waffles section which comes in creative variations that are new to the city.
