Dali
Some recent graphic novels demonstrate there’s more to the genre than hagiography. In Dali, the French illustrator Edmond Baudoin offers a highly personal interpretation of the Spanish painter’s life, adopting the artist’s own surrealist methods to create a densely layered narrative; Dali’s work is not replicated faithfully, but shown in what Baudoin calls ‘eccentric betrayals’.
