The most significant limitation to a country’s economic growth is its infrastructure, which implies that there is a need to change our perspective towards infrastructure for sustainable development in India. To this end, InfraConclave 2017 was held last month in Delhi. This edition brought together experts from sectors such as core infrastructure such as power, healthcare, urban infrastructure, housing, waste management, water, sanitation and urban transport. Here’s a look at the key takeaways from the various discussions held that day.

URBAN INFRASTRUCTURE

India’s urban population very large and will continue to grow with time so there is a need for simeultaneous growth in infrastructure in the country. But with rapid urbanisation there is also a huge impact on the physical as well as mental health of the population. At InfraConclave, one of the focus areas was creating ‘Integrated Metropolis’ that focussed on improving the current living standards of citizens to better their physical as well as mental health. A sustainable ecosystem of an integrated metropolis is a phenomenon that must be initiated on a micro level.

RURAL INFRASTRUCTURE

Providing proper and adequate provisions of infrastructure to rural areas can lead to faster rate of development. InfraConclave’s objective here was to empower the roots of our economy in order to flourish as one united front through the process of actionable intelligence with the help of leaders that think for tomorrow is one that we hope comes to life.

CORE INFRASTRUCTURE

Power and healthcare are pillars of a modern society. A panel discussion at the InfraConclave discussed different aspects in this category and ways to implement them.
