Monsoon flooding in Gujarat has resulted in the death of 218 (at last count); up to 130,000 have been moved to safer ground. As many as 61 have died in Banaskantha district alone, where this photo was taken during rescue operations. According to meteorologists, the rainfall in Gujarat has been among the worst in 112 years. Some 700 people and thousands of animals have died across the country during this monsoon season. Havoc has been wreaked on infrastructure too, with roads submerged and electricity networks damaged.
