TV Today Network Ltd CSR Initiative

-

TV Today Network Ltd donated Rs 93,25,944 to Care Today Fund for FY 2014-15, consistent with Section 135 of Companies Act, 2013. Care Today Fund established Care Today A/c TV Today Network Ltd (FY 201415) and deployed these funds to implement three projects aligned to Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.

Care Today Fund implemented one of these three projects in partnership with Nageshwara Charitable Trust, an NGO based in Nagpur, Maharashtra. Under the project, the Nageshwara Charitable Trust received a grant of Rs 33.75 lakh to construct 225 household twin-pit toilets in the villages of Paoni (119), Khaparda (23), Swangi (19), Moudi (19), Palora (09), Chorbauli(17), and Chargaon (19) in the Ramtek block of Nagpur district in Maharashtra.

Care Today Fund’s decision to support the initiative was based on the rationale that the villages identified for project implementation were tribal villages, located in remote areas and the beneficiary communities were poor, with limited access to livelihood opportunities. Additionally, the project laid special emphasis on supporting women who suffered significantly due to the lack of household toilets.

The community participated extensively during the various phases of toilet construction, especially in providing labour services. Community leaders helped enormously in community mobilisation. Community participation helped in the smooth implementation of activities. Behavioural change communication and community outreach by the Nageshwara Charitable Trust and ensuring the provision of water close to the toilets contributed towards adoption of toilet use. Women, children and the aged sections of the population were very happy at having a toilet facility within their houses. During the interactions, people of the community mentioned that the project improved their health status, contributed to hygiene in the villages and increased the overall quality of life, well-being and dignity. Women and the aged were very forthcoming in expressing their satisfaction, especially with the decreased drudgery, increased convenience and enhanced dignity. The Nageshwara Charitable Trust received commendation letters from the Ramtek gram panchayat in Nagpur district for the successful implementation of the project.
