THIS SEASON, instead of buying the same old duty-free perfumes, turn to this city-based store that offers fragrances that are more singular in nature and can be customised as per choice. Santiebs Vie De Luxury, owned by Vishal Bamalwa is a brand of luxury perfumes made in France but sold in Kolkata. In fact, other than its ownership, almost every aspect of the product is international. “Our perfumes are manufactured in France, the bottles are made in Poland and the packaging comes from Italy,” says Bamalwa. Despite their international origin, the perfumes are made to suit the Indian climate. “The average perfume that you buy varies in concentration from about 10 to 20 per cent. But you need something more intense for the Indian climate. This is why Santieb perfumes have a concentration of 22 per cent,” says Vishal, who has a degree in luxury retail management from The International University of Monaco.
IN STORE Currently they have nine perfumes labelled as unisex. However, not all are gender neutral. For example, the Madame Demente not only sounds
feminine but with its flowery middle notes of lily, carnation, rose and violets, also smells quite sweet.
