From running a small scale fabrication facility with a meagre capital of Rs 1 lakh in 1994 to becoming a major supplier of towers to the telecom and power transmission industry, poised to be a Rs 1,000 crore company by 2020, Manney Subrahmanyam has come a long way.

Though the tower manufacturing industry is going through a bad patch, MPower has been growing at a 35 per cent CAGR for the past five years. Today, MPower exports transmission and communication towers to Ghana, Myanmar and Oman. It has supplied and executed more than 100,000 telecom towers, contributed more than 90,000 tonnes of transmission line tower parts, and solar power plants, with a total capacity of 600 MW relying on its structures across the country. The current production capacity of 60,000 metric tonnes a year is being enhanced through automation and expansion to reach 80,000 MT by early next year. “Growth plans have been devised after studying the industry thoroughly and learning from the failures of others. We always manage business with a great sense of commitment to deliver what customers expect. Company hierarchy and management practices have been established and are implemented in such a way that steady growth is achieved and business is sustained even in troubled times,” says Subrahmanyam.

He might have left his village of Bhimavaram in West Godavari district 30 years ago to look for work in Hyderabad, but Subrahmanyam hasn’t forgotten his roots. He is engaged in paddy cultivation besides investing in shrimp and prawn culture, in the West Godavari and Krishna districts, and has also set up a 100 bed multi–specialty hospital in Hyderabad.
