PRIVATE Paradise

More than just the sum of its parts, a bathroom is an extension of an owner’s personality and style. Here are a few design rules to follow.

WHAT MAKES A BATHROOM UNIQUE?

When a bathroom design is able to transcend the limitations of a necessity and bring the user into a realm of rejuvenation. If it enables the occupant to pause and reflect; it then becomes an amenity in itself—a private sanctuary. At Penthouse Pafekuto, Ghaziabad, we designed an ensuite bathroom not as an attachment, but as an extension of the bedroom. The interior design embraces colours and textures to accentuate the Zen-like vibe of the space, creating a flattering and relaxing experience. One takes in the views from the high rise penthouse while soaking in the stepped freestanding Mesi bathtub by Oyster, making bath time feel like a treat.

CHALLENGES IN BATHROOM DESIGN

Bathrooms tend to be one of the most challenging areas when it comes to construction phase due to coming together of various trades and disciplines. The recent advent of building automation systems including sensors, electrical components of highend plumbing fixtures, low voltage audio systems in addition to civil work, plumbing, tiling, glass work and finishes; all together have the potential to go wrong in many ways. At Penthouse Pafekuto, we faced a particular challenge routing the plumbing of the ceiling mounted basin faucet to the floor, in the absence of any wall around.

ROLE OF TECHNOLOGY IN THE BATH

The desire for an ultra-luxurious bathroom with convenience and comfort of personalisation is leading the way for adoption of technology in this space. A few high-tech fixtures use automatic functions and preferred settings, customised for each family member. These fixtures have the ability to personalise water pressure, temperature and mode settings to be controlled digitally. As technology is evolving we see an increase in intuitive products based on IOT and sensor activated functionality.
