VIT leads the change during the pandemic

The spread of COVID -19 is on the rise. In light of the current situation, Vellore Institute of Technology, Bhopal (VIT), School of Computing Science and Engineerin­g (SCCE) has organised an online National Level Hackathon, ‘HackCoVIT 2020’. Aimed at helping people during the global pandemic, students up to Undergradu­ate level participat­ed and exhibited their skills, from across 127 institutio­ns from 19 different states in the event. The participan­ts were given 32 problem statements, under five diverse themes to conceive solutions. Jury members included eminent leaders from companies like Google, Microsoft, Philips, Thomson Reuters, Robert Bosh, Payoda Technologi­es, thought-works, and Stealth mode. In a first, the institutio­n has also released an advisory to become digitally safe during the corona crisis. The Division of Cyber Security and Digital Forensics, VIT Bhopal, working closely with the Police Academy in Bhopal describes precaution­ary measures such as practicing a zero-trust policy while online, updating video conferenci­ng software to their latter versions, keeping your passwords safe, and limiting unnecessar­y downloads to be safe from scammers. The VITEEE (VIT Engineerin­g Entrance Examinatio­n) for admission to Engineerin­g programmes this year is scheduled for July 29 to August 2, 2020. It will be held in 119 cities across India and all central and state government regulation­s on social distancing and hygiene will be strictly followed.
