What technology has in store for 2021
Dive into 2021 with some innovative gadgets, next-Gen sanitisation technology and of course, amazing phones.
The year that was brought untold challenges, but with it, also a novel way to look at life in general; tech proved no exception to this rule. If 2020 was the great disruptor, 2021 promises to be the year of amazing gizmos. Gadget makers are heavily betting on 2021 to revive businesses with some incredible launches in the pipeline and unbelievable tech toys to play with. Here’s what’s in store.
New Apple iPhones, iPads and Airpods
Last year we saw the upgraded versions of the iPhones, iPads, Airpods and Macbooks; this year Apple is planning to launch even more powerful iPhones with Bionic A14 chipsets, that can capture better images, videos and one can even edit them on the fly without breaking into a sweat. In a similar vein, iPads are going to get an upgrade with newer, faster, Apple chips and one can see better keyboards accompanying them too. A new version of the
Apple Airpods is also on the cards. Since last year we saw Airpods Max, this year it is the turn of Airpods pro to get the upgrade and become better in the resonance department.
Autonomous Personal Vehicles
Though we have seen self-driving cars from makers such as Tesla that can run on their own on highways/expressways for short distances, the driver must remain alert at all times. The next big wave comes with completely autonomous cars, which can drive from point A to point B on their own, without any driver intervention. Just key in the coordinates and you will be taken to the destination by the vehicle on its own, even on busy city roads. Tesla has already announced plans for its cars to be fully autonomous. Others like Zoox and Hyundai are working on this technology for some time and in 2021, we might just see them on the streets.
Smarter Airdressers
Airdressers are going to become mainstream and smarter. For the uninitiated, these are great additions to your walk-in closets as they sanitise, de-odorise and refresh your clothes at the press of a button. In 2021, these smart closets will become better and will be able to detect the type of clothes and accessories in them. This is a must-have gadget for new and old homes that will help fight viruses and germs, and in the process keep clothes smelling fresh.
Sanitisation Gadgets
With the pandemic, companies have scrambled to build gadgets that help fight the dreaded virus. A smartwatch that comes with a compartment for holding a sanitisation spray is in the making. Just press a button and it will spray the disinfectant right into your hands. The facemask is also going to go the digital way with fans and better filters attached to it, so you breathe better and stay safe.
Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 driven Android mobiles
A lot of premium Android smartphones are slated to debut with Snapdragon 888 in the new year. Everyone from Samsung to OnePlus will be bringing these new-age chipsets to their respective smartphones. OnePlus has already said they will bring SD 888 in OnePlus9, Asus will bring the higher Plus variant of SD 888 in Asus ROG Phone 4 and similarly Samsung for its new Z Fold 3 series, later this year. These smartphones will be 5G ready, which is slated to roll out in the latter half of 2021. Users will be able to play more powerful games, multi-task better and the chipset will provide longer battery life support.
