SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir cricket team on Tuesday defeated Services by 3 wickets in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy 2020-21 at the Jadavpur University Campus, 2nd Ground, in Kolkata.

Parvez Rasool-led Jammu and Kashmir won the toss and opted to field first in their second Group E match.

JK Pacer Umar Nazir took 2 early wickets to reduce Services to 10/2. However, a determined Ravi Chauhan (118) century stabilized the Services' innings. Captain R. Paliwal (33), Pulkit Narang (48 not out) and Diwesh Pathania (42 not out) chipped in with important contributions to help Services post a total of 274 for the loss of 7 wickets.

For Jammu and Kashmir, Captain Parvez Rasool, Aquib Nabi and Vivrant Sharma took 1 wicket each.

In response, the JK batsmen started off gingerly. Losing opening pair of Vivrant Sharma (17) and Suryansh Raina (19) in the first 8 overs of the match, leaving the team at 43/2.

However, Jammu and Kashmir's cricketing sensation Abdul Samad (63), and veterans Shubham Khajuria (84) and Shubham Pundir (56) maintained calm to steer JK to an important victory.

Samad's blitzkrieg innings came in just 38 balls, with the burly batsman smacking 4 sixes in the process. Jammu and Kashmir scored 276/7 to win the match, with 9 balls to spare.

For Services, Pulkit Narang took 2 wickets.

The victory helps Jammu and Kashmir register first points on the Group E table after losing the first match to Saurashtra. Their next match is against Haryana on Thursday, February 25.
