Agri Dept Sanctions Four Hiring Centres, Two Machinery Banks In Kupwara

KUPWARA: The Agriculture Department Kupwara Friday organised a draw of lots function for Custom Hiring Centres and Machinery Banks at DC Office here.

The function was presided over by District Development Commissioner (DDC), Kupwara, Imam Din.

As many as 6 beneficiaries were selected through draw of lots for sanctioning of Custom Hiring Centres/Machinery Banks.

On the occasion, it was informed that 4 beneficiaries shall be provided the Hiring Centres one each from Trehgam, Handwara, Sogam and Tangdar agriculture sub divisions. While as, two Machinery Banks were also sanctioned one each for Treham and Handwara sub division. It was further informed that financial assistance of Rs. 31 lakh shall be provided to the beneficiaries under the Centrally Sponsored Sub Mission on Agricultural Mechanization (SMAM) scheme.

Speaking on the occasion, the DDC said that these innovative schemes have been introduced in the Agriculture Department to facilitate the farmer community for increasing their income. He said that District Administration is always on forefront to support the Agriculture and allied departments as the Agriculture is the backbone of the rural economy.

He directed the concerned officers to further extend such facilities in all blocks of the district.

ADC Kupwara, Nazir Ahmad Lone, ACR, Bashir Ahmad Bhat, Chief Agriculture Officer, officers of Agriculture department and beneficiaries attended the function.
