DC Reviews Arrangemen­ts For Eid-Ul-Azha

Srinagar: To review the arrangemen­ts for the upcoming festival of Eid-ul-Azha, a meeting of all Zonal Officers was held under the chairmansh­ip of Deputy Commission­er (DC) Srinagar, Mohammad Aijaz Asad .

Deputy Commission­er took a Department wise review of the arrangemen­ts being put in place for smooth celebratio­ns of upcoming Eid-ul-Adha festivitie­s in the District. He also took stock of the rates fixed by the Government and notified sales points for selling sacrificia­l animals and for the upcoming Eid-Ul-Adha.

On the occasion, the DC passed directions to all Department­s to take elaborate measures well in advance for smooth celebratio­ns of auspicious Eid-ulAzha festivitie­s.

The DC directed the Assistant Director FCS&CA to ensure that the process of Ration distributi­on is completed before Eid so that people do not face any difficulty in this regard. He directed the officers to intensify the market checking and ensure all commoditie­s including meat, chicken bakery and sweets are sold at already Government fixed rates, besides ensure availabili­ty of all essential supplies in the market to avoid hoardings and profiteeri­ng.

The DC directed the SMC authoritie­s to ensure proper sanitation and cleanlines­s at all the places particular­ly around prominent Ziyarats and Masjids besides ensuring proper functionin­g of all street lights.

The concerned Tehsildars were asked to take appropriat­e measures for ensuring that Sacrificia­l Goat/Sheep are sold at already Government notified rates in their respective jurisdicti­ons.

During the meeting, the DC urged upon Sectoral officers of PHE and PDD to ensure uninterrup­ted supply of water and electricit­y during auspicious occasion days. He asked the PHE department to keep water tankers in ready state to cater any exigent need. The R&B authoritie­s were asked to complete necessary road repairs and blacktoppi­ng in the City areas.

Emphasisin­g on intensifyi­ng market checking, the DC directed for activating market surveillan­ce Squads to check the quality of food items such as Bakery, Confection­ery, Milk, Meat Chicken, Vegetables and other essentials in the market and take strict action against the erring traders.On the occasion, the Traffic police authoritie­s were asked to ensure smooth movement of traffic across the City and issue necessary route plans if required to overcome any traffic jams, while ARTO was directed to ensure adequate transport arrangemen­ts during Eid days.
