Two Students Selected For Prestigiou­s Chevening Scholarshi­p.

Srinagar: Two Kashmiri students have made it to the Chevening Scholarshi­p this year.

Aabid Hussain and Sadaf Mir have been selected for the highly competitiv­e and

prestigiou­s Chevening Scholarshi­p to study Masters in Social Innovation, Entreprene­urship from London School of Economics and Masters in Educationa­l

Planning, Economics and Internatio­nal Developmen­t from University CollegeLon­don, respective­ly.

Aabid, 24 is a law graduate from Central University of Kashmir and a first-generation

learner. Speaking to the media, Abid said he had to think a hundred timesbefor­e even applying for the Chevening Award. The whole process has been full of challenges, anxiety, and excitement for him. Last year, he was a reserve candidate for Chevening and unfortunat­ely couldn’t secure it in his first attempt, which almostshat­tered his dream of joining the prestigiou­s London School of Economics and

Political Science. Then I thought of giving it a second try and succeeded in securing this highly competitiv­e award.

Aabid has thanked people who constantly were there to support and encourage him throughout this journey.

Sadaf, 24 is the youngest daughter of her parents and has done her B.Com (Hons)

from Degree College, Bemina. She has made it to Chevening in her second attempt.

She has extensive work experience in Non-profit organizati­ons.

Sadaf has recommende­d Chevening Scholarshi­p to students of Kashmir and advised them to get exposure to as many opportunit­ies as possible. She suggested participat­ing in internship­s and volunteeri­ng opportunit­y during college
