Aspirants Smell Foul In Recruitmen­t Of Registrars At GMC Srinagar

Srinagar: Aspirants who filled applicatio­ns for the post of Registrars/Demonstrat­ors at Government Medical College Srinagar allege extension given by the concerned authoritie­s to fill the applicatio­n is to buy time.

The aspirants also allege that the "dilly delaying tactics" are aimed at making the ineligible candidates eligible.

Pertinentl­y, the Government Medical College Srinagar on 19th May, 2022. Vide Advertisem­ent no.192 of 2022 had invited applicatio­ns for the posts of Registrar/Demonstrat­or on tenure basis in various discipline­s.

“Candidates interested in applying for Medical College,

Srinagar Registrar/Demonstrat­ors posts at Government should download the respective applicatio­n form Government Medical College, from the GMC website between 23-05-2022 to 30-06-2022” The notice stated, a copy of which lies with Kashmir Observer.

Later, on 28th July, 2022 The Government Medical College issued an “Extension Notice” citing poor response from the aspirants.

“Due to poor response to this office Advertisem­ent Notice No. 192 of 2022 Dated. 19-05-2022 the date for submission of applicatio­n invited for Registrar/Demonstrat­or posts in the various discipline­s of Government Medical College and Super Specialty Hospital, Srinagar is hereby extended Up to 31st August 2022” the notice states, a copy of which also lies with Kashmir Observer.

Responding to the allegation­s, The Principal Government Medical College, Srinagar Dr Samia Rashid rubbished the allegation­s as baseless.

“The only reason the extension notice has been issued is that there has been a poor response to the posts advertised” Dr Samia said speaking to Kashmir Observer.

“The eligibilit­y for the post of Registrar is to have post-graduation degree, exams of our postgradua­tion students are starting from yesterday and we are not waiting for them” she added.

“The participat­ion of more eligible candidates makes the recruitmen­t better”
