DC Srinagar Chairs DLIC Meet On Implementa­tion Of PM Vishwakarm­a

Srinagar: Deputy Commission­er (DC) Srinagar, Dr Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat Saturday chaired a meeting of District Level Implementa­tion Committee (DLIC) on implementa­tion of PM Vishwakarm­a here at Conference Hall of the DC Office Complex to review the progress of registrati­on of beneficiar­ies on the Portal.

At the outset, the Deputy Commission­er was apprised by the General Manager, District Industries Centre, Srinagar that 2nd-level verificati­on of as many as 295 Artisans of the District has been completed at the District Level Committee.

The DC was informed that 98 cases have been verified from rural areas by the Rural Developmen­t Department and 197 cases from urban areas of the District by Srinagar Municipal Corporatio­n.

On the occasion, the DC accorded the approval for all 295 cases of the beneficiar­y Artisans of the District who will be imparted necessary training to upscale their profession­al skills, in addition, stipend and free of cost tool kits will also be provided to them during.

He emphasized the importance of concerted efforts and creating awareness among masses to maximize the scheme's impact on the socio-economic upliftment of the Artisans.

The DC said that the PM Vishwakarm­a scheme is poised to directly benefit thousands of artisans and craftsmen in the district, providing them with essential tools, training, and financial support for their socioecono­mic developmen­t.

The DC also laid stress on monitoring the implementa­tion of PM Vishwakarm­a cases on a daily basis including progress in Artisan registrati­on on Portal, verificati­on processes in rural and urban areas, stakeholde­r capacity building. He emphasized the importance of creating awareness among masses to maximize the scheme's impact on the ground to ensure efficient and effective implementa­tion of PM Vishwakarm­a for overall welfare and socio-economic developmen­t of the Artisans.

Pertinent to mention that, the PM Vishwakarm­a scheme offers a range of benefits including toolkit incentive of Rs 15,000, training to artisans, Rs 500 per day during training, collateral-free credit supports up to Rs 1 lakh (first tranche) and Rs 2 lakh (second tranche) at a concession­al interest rate of 5%, incentives for digital transactio­ns and marketing support.

The PM Vishwakarm­a scheme initially covers 18 trades including Carpenters, Boat Makers, Armourers, Blacksmith­s, Hammer and Tool Kit, Makers, Locksmiths, Goldsmiths, Potters, Sculptor, Stone breakers, Cobblers (Shoe smith’s/ Footwear artisans), Masons, Basket/Mat/Broom Makers/Coir Weavers, Doll & Toy Makers, Barbers, Garland makers, Washer-men, Tailors and Fishing Net Maker.
