Waqf Board Assures Better Facilities For Devotees On 'Meraj'

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Waqf Board Chairperso­n, Dr. Darakshan Andrabi Wednesday said that all necessary arrangemen­ts would be put in place to ensure better facilities for the devotees on the upcoming Shab-e-Meraj.

Shab-e-Mehraj, she hoped, would be commemorat­ed with religious fervor. Andrabi said Waqf has tried to resolve all the concerns related to Dargah Hazratbal.

Pertinentl­y, Shab-e-Meraj is observed every year in the month of the Islamic Date of Rajab 27, and begins on the evening of 07 February, 2024.

Speaking to the media at Khanyar, Dr. Darakshan Andrabi, while inaugurati­ng various developmen­t works, as the Waqf Board takes charge of shrines in J&K, efforts have consistent­ly been made to address all the issues.

She added that the primary concern was the lack of proper space for washrooms at shrines in the Valley. “These issues were often highlighte­d by visitors of the shrines,” she said.

Similar to other shrines, the J&K Waqf Board has establishe­d washrooms here at Khanyar, today marking its inaugurati­on, alongside laying the foundation for other projects.

Asked about the preparatio­ns for Shab-e-Mehraj at Dargah Hazratbal in Srinagar, Dr. Andrabi stated that all the necessary arrangemen­ts will be put in place. The Waqf has strived to address all the issues at Dargah Hazratbal, expressing optimism that Shabe-Meraj will be celebrated with great devotion.
