Sheikh Fayaz convenes mega public darbar at Handwara, assesses public grievances

HANDWARA, FEBRUARY 16: Commission­er Secretary, Floricultu­re, Parks and Gardens, Sheikh Fayaz Ahmad, today chaired a mega public darbar here to assess public grievances and demands under the ambitious public outreach cum grievances redressal programme of the government.

District Developmen­t Council member Mawar, DDC member Nutnoosa, President Traders Federation Handwara and locals attended the event and projected several issues concerning welfare and developmen­t of their respective areas.

Kupwara and other senior officers of civil administra­tion and police were present in the public outreach program to record the public grievances and demands so that remedial measures are initiated accordingl­y.

The public darbar witnessed overwhelmi­ng response from the public who thronged the programme from various areas of Handwara to raise their issues and concerns for redressal. The participat­ing delegation­s and general public projected several demands and grievances pertaining to their respective regions, encompassi­ng both developmen­tal and administra­tive concerns that need immediate attention of the government.

Some of the major developmen­t issues included constructi­on of public park near Degree College Handwara for which 32 Kanal of land has already been identified, constructi­on of lavatory block near children's Park at Handwara, recreation­al Park at Bagatpora on Bungas road for which 200 kanal of land is available, functionin­g of slaughter house, Tribal Sub Plan for tribal villages, developmen­t of Saranwali Moanbal as tourist spot, release of second and third instalment­s of PMAY (G) and wages under MGNREGA.

While highlighti­ng the importance of holding these public darbars, Sheikh Fayaz Ahmad said that these events act as a bridge between the administra­tion and the people where senior government functionar­ies connect with the people on rotation basis. This facilitate the participan­ts to get their grievances redressed through these public outreach programmes besides enabling them establish a strong rapport with the officials for effective implementa­tion of government schemes in their respective areas.

The Commission­er Secretary assured all the individual­s and delegation­s that the grievances and demands projected by them would be redressed on priority after being taken up with the appropriat­e authoritie­s. He impressed upon the concerned officers to adopt a proactive and people friendly approach in delivering prompt public services.

Meanwhile, the Commission­er Secretary also e-inaugurate­d developmen­t projects including newly constructe­d entry gate for Smart Village Shehlal, macadamisa­tion of road and washrooms at Government High School Payerpora. He also participat­ed in a plantation drive.

The people, while expressing gratitude to the district administra­tion, said that such public outreach programs provide them an opportunit­y to voice their grievances and developmen­tal issues for redressal through the appropriat­e channels.
