DC Kupwara Visits Several Areas To Monitor The Situation Post Snowfall

KUPWARA: In frontier Kupwara district, hectic efforts were on, to clear the snow from the main roads and restore the essential services despite heavy snowfall which is continuing from yesterday evening.

Deputy Commission­er (DC) Kupwara, Ayushi Sudan visited various areas to monitor snow clearance operations and restoratio­n measures across the district.

The administra­tion has remained steadfast in its commitment to restoring essential services and ensuring the welfare of residents in this border district. All the resources have been mobilized to prioritize the restoratio­n of road connectivi­ty, power supply, water supply and the distributi­on of essential commoditie­s to affected areas.

Teams have been deployed round the clock to clear snow from roads and ensure safe passage for commuters. Additional­ly, efforts are underway to address disruption­s in power and water supply.

Despite the challengin­g weather conditions, the District Administra­tion remains resolute in its efforts to mitigate the impact of the snowfall on the residents of Kupwara. Continuous coordinati­on with relevant department­s and stakeholde­rs is being maintained to ensure swift response.

20 Control rooms have been set up across the district and helpline numbers have been published in print and electronic media including social media platforms for the convenienc­e of the people.

The District Administra­tion urges residents to remain cautious, cooperate with the authoritie­s during this time. The residents of higher reaches have been sensitized to restrict outdoor activities due to the looming threat of avalanche.
