"Largest Grain Storage Project": Land identified in J&K

JAMMU: Secretary Cooperativ­e Department, Babila Rakwal, on Thursday convened a meeting to review progress on land identifica­tion for establishm­ent of grain stores under Centre Government's ambitious initiative "World Largest Grain Storage Project" in all districts of Jammu and Kashmir here at Civil Secretaria­t.

The meeting was informed that a total of 56 land locations have been identified in sixteen districts, so far, including 3 in Jammu, 1 in Samba, 5 each in Kishtwar, Kathua, Shopian, Poonch Kulgam and Doda, 2 in Udhampur, 4 in Budgam, 3 in Pulwama, 1 each in Srinagar, Reasi, Ganderbal, Anantnag and Rajouri.

Regarding the remaining locations to be identified for raising these grain stores, the Secretary exhorted upon the concerned officers to ensure that the same is done within a week's. She said that no delay would be tolerated in execution of such prestigiou­s projects as this badly affects the developmen­t process.

The Secretary asked the concerned officers to personally visit the locations for finalizing the same for the store keeping in view all the parameters set under the guidelines for the project implementa­tion. She further instructed all the

Deputy Registrars to ensure identifica­tion of a minimum of seven locations in their jurisdicti­ons with emphasis on selection of far flung areas for maximum benefit to the common masses.

Among others the meeting was attended by Registrar Cooperativ­e Societies, Special Secretary Cooperativ­e, Director Finance Cooperativ­e, Additional Secretary Cooperativ­e, Joint Registrar Banking and Finance, Deputy Registrars and other concerned officials in person and virtually.
