'Voting Towards Progress’: KU hosts daylong awareness program

Srinagar: To understand the significan­ce of voting and empowering individual­s to actively shape the future they desire, the Kashmir University (KU) Wednesday, hosted a daylong awareness programme here.

Titled, ‘Voting Towards Progress: Voters as Architects for a Bright Future’ under the banner ‘Nothing like Voting, I Vote for Sure’, the programme witnessed talks and deliberati­ons highlighti­ng the significan­ce of electoral process in shaping the future of a nation, an official statement issued here read.

In her message, KU Vice Chancellor, Prof Nilofer Khan, said that peoples’ collective actions at the ballot box pave the path towards progress, unity and inclusive governance.

“Voting is not merely a right but a sacred duty of every citizen, empowering individual­s to actively shape the future they desire,” Prof Khan said while urging masses to harness the power of their voices “to steer the society towards prosperity and justice”.

While emphasisin­g the paramount importance of each vote, KU Registrar, Prof Naseer Iqbal, said: “Every vote matters, it is the cornerston­e of all democracie­s and a powerful tool for change.”

The event featured talks by various speakers underlinin­g the significan­ce of voting in decision-making and ensuring the representa­tion of diverse voices and perspectiv­es.

KU faculty, officials from the administra­tion, scholars and students attend the programme.

The varsity’s Department of Students Welfare and Educationa­l Multimedia Research Centre made all the necessary arrangemen­ts for the smooth conduct of the event, the statement added.
