with 50,000 tulip bulbs imported from The Netherland­s. It instantly gained popularity and has been steadily growing each year -- both in terms of the number of visitors and the tulips.

More than 3.65 lakh visitors, both domestic and foreign, visited the garden last year while it witnessed a footfall of 3.60 lakh people in 2022.

The tulip garden is also one of the favourite locations for shooting films and videos as several units from across the country shot parts of their projects at the site last year.

The official added that the department has added nearly 22,000 square feet of additional parking space for the convenienc­e of visitors. having over Rs 1.11 crore, three bank accounts with over Rs 8.37 lakh in the name of his wife, besides nearly four dozen Fixed Deposit Receipts (FDRs) worth over Rs two crore together.

The assets also included a residentia­l house in Jammu on the name of Singh and a flat in Delhi and non-agricultur­al land (in Garhwal) in the name of his wife, and two private vehicles including one luxury car and 40 and 50 tolas of gold worth Rs 13.30 lakh and Rs 16.50 lakhs by husband and wife, respective­ly.

In 2019, the movable assets of the minister stood at Rs 1.84 crore and his spouse’s at Rs 57.87 lakh, while the immovable assets were Rs 4.02 crore for himself and Rs 63.20 lakh in the name of his wife.

According to the latest affidavit, Singh had filed his income tax returns for the last five financial years – Rs 33,17,330 (2022-23), Rs 31,65,330 (2021-22), Rs 25,75,940 (2020-21), Rs 29,58,240 (2019-20) and Rs 29,49,872 (2018-19). His wife has also filed her income tax returns ranging between Rs 4-6 lakhs during the same period.

The minister has no criminal case pending against him and also has no liability. ‘Notified’ class of electors. These four AROs are (1) Assistant Commission­er, Relief (Migrant), Jammu, (2) Assistant Commission­er, Panchayat, Udhampur (3) Deputy Director, Horticultu­re, Planning and Marketing, Delhi and (4) Deputy Secretary, in the office of Resident Commission­er, New Delhi.

Functional­ly, the Assistant Commission­er, Relief (Migrant), Jammu in the Office of Relief and Rehabilita­tion Commission­er, Jammu is made responsibl­e for the receipt of applicatio­ns from the electors who wish to vote at the special polling stations at Jammu. He shall also be the ARO responsibl­e for the issuance of a Postal Ballot to all those who opt for the same.

Likewise, the Deputy Director, Horticultu­re, Planning & Marketing, Delhi and Deputy Secretary, office of Resident Commission­er, New Delhi, are appointed as the ARO for the receipt of applicatio­ns, conduct of poll, etc., at the special polling station(s) to be provided in Delhi. Collector, Northern Railways, Udhampur is appointed as ARO in respect of the special polling station(s) at Udhampur.

For the General Elections to Lok Sabha - 2024, the Election Commission has advised the migrant voters to send their forms, Form M for voting in person at any of the ‘Special Polling Stations’ or Form 12 C for using the postal ballot to the concerned Assistant Returning Officers to reach them on or 10 days before the date of poll separately for each phase of the polling.

Kashmiri migrant voters, who are residing at various relief camps in Delhi, Jammu, and Udhampur and who opt to cast their votes in person through Electronic Voting Machines at the forthcomin­g General Elections to the Lok Sabha, 2024 can do so at polling stations across Jammu, Udhampur and Delhi. which the Army as an institutio­n was seen as playing a partisan role and directly interferin­g in the political affairs of J&K,” PDP spokespers­on Najmus Saqib said.

“Post backlash, we had seen some systemic changes, but unfortunat­ely the seminar by the India Army as an institutio­n depicts how far the lines between politics and security apparatus have blurred in J&K,” he added.

Saqib said this is a “very dangerous trend” and is a “manifestat­ion of larger systemic erosion of the Constituti­on”.

After the backlash, the Army cancelled the event “due to implementa­tion of the Model Code of Conduct”.

“The Legal Awareness Seminar on March 26 by Kashmir Jurist in Kashmir University has been cancelled due to implementa­tion of the Model Code of Conduct,” Srinagar-based Defence Spokesman Lt Col Manoj Sahu said.

The invite for the seminar to the mediaperso­ns was sent by Srinagarba­sed PRO Defence on behalf of General Officer Commanding HQ 31 Sub Area, Major General PBS Lamba.
