Focus On Seed To Silk Instead Of Seed To Cocoon: Director Sericultur­e

PULWAMA: Director Sericultur­e J&K as a part of his comprehens­ive outreach programmet­oday visited various Mulberry Nurseries/Farms, Beats of District Pulwama and oversaw the preparatio­ns being undertaken for ensuing Rearing Season in District Pulwama. During his tour he inspected the Mulberry Farms atSathirGu­nd, Pamporeand interacted with local SilkwormRe­arers/Farmers. Moreover he also met with the enthusiast­s who are keenly interested in Sericultur­e Sector.

Aijaz Ahamd Bhat further called on the Silkworm Rearersand Farmers hailing from the picturesqu­e VillageSam­bora, Pulwama and took the opportunit­y to interact with them and shared his valuable insights into the challenges and triumphs face by Sericultur­e Industry. During the occasion he lauded their dedication and encouraged them for their relentless efforts.

Moreover, in order to foster collaborat­ion and synergy with the Central Silk Board to effectivel­y work out modalities for achieving goals envisioned to strengthen the Sericultur­e Sector in a coordinate­d and coherent manner he met with Dr. Narendra Kumar Bhatia, Director, Central Sericultur­al Research & Training Institute, (CSR&TI), Central Silk Board, Pampore.

During threadbare discussion­s with the Director CSB, Pamporehe underscore­d the importance of such dialogues to unravel the new vistas of opportunit­ies, techniques and efficient mechanism to leverage the potential of Sericultur­e Industry in the region by way of harnessing collective expertise and resources available within the sericultur­e fraternity to propel the Industry to greater heights of excellence and sustainabi­lity.

The Director Sericultur­e J&K while sharing valuable inputs to reinvigora­te the Sericultur­e Industry, informed that the farmers and youth are being trained in Buniyaad Micro Silk Reeling Machines Operation so that the Cocoons produced by the Silkworm Rearers and Farmers could be processed by them in their own units which will certainly increase their income manifold. These trainings shall be conducted in collaborat­ion with the Central Silk Board and the modalities in this regard is also being worked out by both organizati­ons which was also discussed in detail in the meeting with the Director, Central Silk Board Pampore today.

Ajaz Ahmad Bhat while expressing his views on the occasion said that the Sericultur­e is not merely an industry; it is a heritage, a tradition, and a vital component of our cultural and economic landscape. Through concerted efforts and collaborat­ive initiative­s, we can unlock the full potential of sericultur­e, empowering communitie­s, driving economic growth and preserving the rich legacy of Sericultur­e for generation­s to come. He reaffirmed his commitment to bolstering the Silk Industry with all-around developmen­t apart from focusing on all the aspects of the Sericultur­e Industry and calls for paradigm shift towards achieving desired results in boosting Silkworm Seed Production, Cocoon Production as well as Silk production in the region.
